SONET/CBR10G to Line FEC Modes
There are three SONET/CBR10G to Line FEC modes:
●
●
●
SONET/CBR10G to or from LFEC(S), 237/255
SONET/CBR10G to or from LFEC(NS), 238/255
SONET/CBR10G <-Async-> LFEC(S)
The SONET/CBR10G to Line FEC mode is shown in the following figure.
Figure 36. SONET/CBR10G to LFEC Mode
In the case of SONET client data, the add path of the device performs SONET/SDH framing, section
and line overhead performance monitoring, and optional section/line overhead generation. Then the
SONET/SDH data is mapped into the OTU frame along with the FEC parity and digital wrapper
overhead. In the drop path, the incoming FEC signal is framed, decoded, and optionally corrected, FEC
performance monitoring is performed, and the digital wrapper overhead is terminated. The
STS-192/STM-64 signal is then extracted, framed, and section and line overhead performance
monitoring are done, followed by the optional generation of the section and line overhead.
In the case of CBR10G data, the client data is not process by the SONET block. The LFEC(S) modes
support optional extraction of the OTU stuff bytes in the drop direction, and insertion of OTU stuff bytes
in the add direction. Asynchronous mapping and demapping the SONET/CBR10G payload is also
supported.
