10 GbE/Transparent to Line FEC Modes
There are two 10 GbE/Transparent to Line FEC modes:
●
●
10GbE/Transparent to or from LFEC(NS), 238/255
10GbE/Transparent to or from LFEC(S), 237/255
The following figure shows the 10 GbE/Transparent to Line FEC mode.
Figure 37. 10 GbE/Transparent to LFEC Mode
In this mode, client data is synchronously mapped, with or without stuffing, using the OPU2 payload
capacity. In the case of transparent client data, the line data rate is G.709 compliant. In the case of the
10 GbE client, the device is overclocked to accommodate the 10.3125 Gbps client rate, and the 10 GbE
client is monitored. For either 10 GbE or transparent data, the TOH block is bypassed, as indicated in
Figure 37. In this mode, data formats other than SONET/SDH can be encoded and decoded. The
LFEC(S) mode supports the optional extraction of the OTU stuff bytes in the drop direction and the
insertion of the OTU stuff bytes in the add direction.
