2.3 2DLPF Noise Reduction
This IC has a 2DLPF noise reduction function that reduces residual noise after input type SNR processing and
block noise and mosquito noise that occur due to compression such as MPEG.
The 2DLPF noise reduction function allows independent setting for the luminance and chrominance and also
automatic ON/OFF setting according to the noise level.
2.3.1 Luminance 2DLPF Noise Reduction
By setting YLPFON(SUB:64h-bit[0]) = 1, 2DLPF noise reduction on the luminance data side operates.
The luminance 2DLPF noise reduction forms LPF with the surrounding 9 pixels (YHLPFM = 0) or 15 pixels
(YHLPFM = 1) centering on the target pixel that is selected by YHLPFM (SUB:64h-bit[2]) and achieves noise
reduction.
The filter strength can be selected from two levels through YLPFM(SUB:64h-bit[1]).
This IC allows the setting of a compensation level of the edge section through the YED[4:0] (SUB:65h-bit[4:0])
level to prevent band deterioration of the edge section by LPF.
However, if edge compensation is enhanced, 2DLPF noise reduction deteriorates.
