ODUk LCK Generation
ODUk-LCK can be generated manually by setting a microprocessor accessible bit. ODUk-LCK is
continuously generated when ADD/DROP_ODU_LCK_EN is set to 1.
Generic AIS Generation
A generic AIS signal can be generated in the Transparent to FEC or SONET/SDH to FEC modes:

Automatically when the add SONET frame aligner goes into a loss of frame (LOF) state. This is
activated by setting ADD_LOF_GAIS to 1.
Automatically when the add SONET frame aligner goes into a loss of signal (LOS) state. This is
activated by setting ADD_LOS_GAIS to 1.
Manually by setting a microprocessor accessible bit. Generic AIS is continuously generated when
ADD_GAIS_EN is set to 1.

OTUk AIS Generation
An OTUk AIS signal can be generated manually by setting a microprocessor accessible bit. OTUk AIS
is continuously generated when ADD/DROP_OTU_AIS_EN is set to 1 (default = 0). The OTUk AIS
signal is an unframed and unscrambled PN-11 sequence over all bits of a FEC frame.

NULL Client Generation
When ADD/DROP_TST_NULL is set to 1, an all-zeros pattern is inserted into columns 17 to 3824 of
the OPUk (OPUk Payload).
PRBS Test Signal Generation
When ADD/DROP_TST_PRBS is set to 1, a pseudo-random test sequence (231 to 1) is mapped into
columns 17 to 3824 of the OPUk (OPUk payload).
Overhead Insertion and Maintenance Signals
The maintenance block inserts overhead from the overhead generator into the OTUk framed data stream
and modifies the frame as appropriate for the various G.709 maintenance signals, test payloads, and so
forth. For more information, see the following table.
