1.1 Introduction
ES51964 configures a dual display LCD driver for multi-meter applications. The dual
display includes main-display and sub-display. Each display has 4 digits to show up to 6600
counts. The simplified representation of dual display is shown below. Main-display always
shows current measurement value, however sub-display usually shows sub-measurement
mode or some special reading, for example, maximum reading, minimum reading, and
reference value of relative mode. By the dual display feature, ES51964 can also shows two
different measurement mode at the same time, for example, AC voltage with frequency,
frequency mode with duty cycle. It’s very convenient for user to observe the ac voltage and
frequency at the same time without changing the rotary switch or pushing any function
button. Other features achieved by dual display will be introduced in later sections. The full
LCD configuration is shown at section 6.1 of page 27.
