The tributary alarm indication signal output (AIS)
marks tributaries on the outgoing stream that
are in AIS state.
In outgoing byte interface mode (OBMODE set
high), AIS is set high when AIS is inserted in the
associated tributary on the OD[7:0] and is set
low when the AIS is not inserted. In floating
mode, AIS contains valid data only for bytes in
the VC3 or VC4 virtual container(s), or the
STS-1 synchronous payload envelopes. Its
value should be ignored for bytes in the
transport overhead. In locked mode, AIS is set
low for transport overhead bytes. AIS is updated
on the rising edge of SCLK.
In outgoing nibble interface mode (OBMODE set
low), AIS is set high when AIS is inserted in the
associated tributary on the OD[3:0] and is set
low when the AIS is not inserted. In floating
mode, AIS contains valid data only for bytes in
the VC3 or VC4 virtual container(s), or the
STS-1 synchronous payload envelopes. Its
value should be ignored for bytes in the
transport overhead. In locked mode, AIS is set
low for transport overhead bytes. AIS is updated
on the rising edge of NSCLK.
