Flash Memory
Overview
The products in the Z8 Encore! XP® F08xA Series features 8KB (8192) KB of non-vola-
tile Flash memory with read/write/erase capability. The Flash Memory can be pro-
grammed and erased in-circuit by either user code or through the On-Chip Debugger.
The Flash memory array is arranged in pages with 512 bytes per page. The 512-byte page
is the minimum Flash block size that can be erased. Each page is divided into 8 rows of 64
bytes.
For program/data protection, the Flash memory is also divided into sectors. In the Z8
Encore! XP® F08xA Series, these sectors are 1024 bytes in size; so the Flash memory is
divided into eight sectors.
The first 2 bytes of the Flash Program memory are used as Flash Option Bits. Refer to the
chapter “Flash Option Bits” on page 138 for more information about their operation.
Table 77 describes the Flash memory configuration for each device in the Z8 Encore! XP®
F08xA Series. Figure 19 illustrates the Flash memory arrangement.
