TheAPA0710 is a bridged-tied load (BTL) or singled-
ended(SE)audiopower amplifierdevelopedespecially
for low-voltage applications where internal speakers
and external earphone operation are required. The
APA0711isaonlyBTLaudiopoweramplifier developed
especially for low-voltage applications where internal
speakers are required. Operating with a 5V supply,
theAPA0710/1 can deliver 1.1W of continuous power
into a BTL 8W load at 10% THD+N throughout voice
bandfrequencies.Although thisdeviceischaracterized
out to 20kHz,itsoperationisoptimizedfor narrowband
applications such as wireless communications. The
BTL configuration eliminates the need for external
coupling capacitorson the output inmost applications,
whichisparticularlyimportant forsmall battery-powered
equipment. A unique feature of theAPA0710 isthat it
allows the amplifier to switch from BTL to SE on the
fly when anearphonedrive isrequired. Thiseliminates
complicated mechanical switching or auxiliary devices
just to drive the external load. This device features a
shutdown mode for power-sensitive applications with
special depopcircuitrytoeliminatespeaker noisewhen
exiting shutdown mode. TheAPA0710/1 are available
in an 8-pin SOP and 8-pin MSOP-P with enhanced
thermal pad.
