OXFW912
1394B-to-ATA7/ATAPI Bridge
1394B, FireWire800
Available on MAC and PC platforms, 1394 is now the industry
standard digital video connectivity port.
Embedded ARM processor
Managing the data flow through the FW912, the on-chip
ARM7TDMI enables whole new series of standalone
consumer electronic products to be developed in a simple
C/C++ programming environment.
The FW912 uses extensive on-chip hardware accelerators
to reduce asynchronous processor interrupts and so dramatically
improve data transfer rates.
UDMA6 IDE interface
The FW912 IDE controller complies with ATA7 and has
software configurability which, when combined with optimised
ARM code based on many years experience, assures
compatibility with magnetic, optical and compact flash media.
Hardware support is also provided for dual drives. This, when
combined with integrated hardware striping, allows the speed of
two drives to be harnessed to create one virtual drive of almost
twice the speed. With today's hard drive technology, this is the
only sure way of taking full advantage of Firewire800's
800Mbit/sec bandwidth. This feature also allows the two drives
to appear as one higher capacity drive.
Development tools and custom solutions
For external MAC and PC storage solutions, Oxford
Semiconductor offers a selection of reference designs,
development code, drivers, and evaluation kits.
Comprehensive application notes shorten learning curves and
simplify implementation.
