Introduction
The IBM3115Q012 is a Silicon Germanium (SiGe)
Integrated Voltage Controlled Oscillator (iVCO) with
a frequency coverage of 3580-3980 MHz. With its
low phase noise performance and wide bandwidth,
the iVCO is suitable for use in GSM/DCS/PCS tri-
band direct conversion receivers.
Q tank circuit elements such as inductors, varactors,
and band tuning elements are integrated on-chip.
The QFN-12 iVCO is a low cost alternative to hybrid
modules with a size savings of up to 85% in board
footprint.
The IBM3115Q012 iVCO has two frequency bands
selectable by a single input pin (VSW). Frequency
tuning in each band is controlled by an analog
voltage applied to the VT pin. The chip also features
an OFF pin to enable a standby mode for power
conservation.
The iVCO is a fully integrated SiGe device fabri-
cated using IBM’s BiCMOS 5DM Technology. High
